Meet Juliet: The Tortie Beauty Seeking Her Forever Home

While she may have been born to blend in with her surroundings, this stunning tortoise shell-colored cat, Juliet, is anything but ordinary. With her striking coat and charming personality, she stands out as a lovable lady in search of her forever home. This week, we shine a spotlight on Juliet as part of The Palm Beach Post’s Pet of the Week series, dedicated to helping animals find loving families in Palm Beach County.

    A Heartfelt Introduction to Juliet

Juliet is a 3-year-old female cat weighing in at a healthy 15 pounds. She arrived at the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control shelter on October 15, and while she may be a bit nervous in the shelter environment, her sweet nature shines through. Spayed and with her front claws removed, Juliet is ready to fill your home with love and happiness. Despite her sassy appearance in photos, those who have interacted with her know that she is a gentle soul looking for a safe and loving space to call her own.

For more information about Juliet, you can check out her online profile on the Animal Care and Control website.

The Pet of the Week Initiative

The Palm Beach Post’s Pet of the Week series aims to highlight animals available for adoption, with the hope of finding them a loving family. Each week, the Palm Beach County animal shelter selects a pet that is safe, friendly, and ready to become a companion. Since the series began in February, an impressive 27 featured pets have found their forever homes, showcasing the positive impact of this initiative.

The selection process for the Pet of the Week involves careful consideration by shelter leaders, who often choose longer-term residents or animals struggling to adjust to the shelter environment. Juliet is one such cat, and the shelter volunteers are hopeful that she will soon find a home where she can feel secure and cherished.

    Understanding Juliet’s Personality

Juliet’s personality is a blend of sweetness and sass. While she may initially appear shy due to her nervousness in the shelter, those who take the time to get to know her will discover a loving companion. Her unique tortoiseshell coloring adds to her charm, making her a standout among the many cats in the shelter.

Animal Care and Control staffers have noted that Juliet is friendly and enjoys gentle interactions. With the right family, she is sure to blossom into a confident and affectionate pet.

    How to Adopt Juliet

If you feel a connection with Juliet and are interested in adopting her, the process is straightforward. You can start the adoption process either in person or online:

    In-Person Adoption

    1. Visit Animal Care and Control during normal business hours at 7100 Belvedere Road near West Palm Beach.
    2. Fill out an application and meet the pets available for adoption.

    Online Adoption

    1. Use Juliet’s animal ID number (A2217439) to search for her on the Animal Care and Control’s online database.
    2. Click on the "Ready to Adopt? Click Here" link next to her photo.
    3. Fill out the two-page downloadable adoption application and email it to Animal Care and Control at PSD-ACCSupport@pbcgov.org.

Once your application is reviewed, a team member will contact you to confirm your approval to adopt. Please note that submitting an online application does not guarantee the pet’s availability.

    Adoption Fees and Benefits

For the entire month of October, adoption fees for cats are waived, making it an excellent time to welcome a new feline friend into your home. For other pets, the fees are as follows:

    • Adult dogs: $60
    • Puppies: $75
    • Cats and kittens: $50

Additionally, Palm Beach County residents aged 55 and older are offered discounted adoption fees. All animals adopted from Animal Care and Control will be spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, protected against fleas and ticks, and microchipped.

    Consider Fostering

If you’re not ready for a long-term commitment, fostering a pet can be a wonderful option. It allows you to experience pet parenthood while providing a temporary home for an animal in need. You can learn more about fostering opportunities on the Animal Care and Control’s website.

    Conclusion

Juliet is a beautiful tortoiseshell cat with a heart full of love, waiting for the right family to embrace her. By adopting or fostering, you can make a significant difference in her life and experience the joy of companionship. If you’re interested in Juliet or any other pets available for adoption, take the first step today and help bring a little more love into your home.
