Purina Aids Areas Impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton with Donations of Pet Food, Cat Litter, and More

In the wake of natural disasters, the need for timely support becomes paramount, especially for those who cannot speak for themselves—our beloved pets. Purina, a leading pet care brand, has stepped up to the plate in response to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Their commitment to aiding both pets and people in need showcases the company’s dedication to community welfare and animal care.

A Swift Response to Hurricane Helene

Following the destruction wrought by Hurricane Helene earlier this month, Purina announced a generous donation of $25,000 to Greater Good Charities. This contribution was pivotal in funding emergency relief efforts, which included not only food and medical supplies but also hygiene kits for individuals displaced by the storm. The donation also facilitated the safe transport of shelter pets, ensuring that these vulnerable animals found refuge away from the chaos.

Purina’s proactive approach highlights the importance of immediate action in disaster scenarios. By partnering with organizations like Greater Good Charities, they are able to maximize the impact of their contributions, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.

    Continued Support After Hurricane Milton

As the aftermath of Hurricane Milton unfolded, the needs of affected communities grew even more pressing. In response, Purina ramped up its efforts by shipping over 1,700 tons of pet food and cat litter—equivalent to 130 truckloads—to support thousands of shelter animals and displaced pets. This monumental effort was made possible by the Purina wet and dry facility in Hereford, which contributed an impressive 718,000 pounds of pet care products, including both dog and cat food.

Established in Hereford in 1988, the facility has grown to employ over 320 associates who are dedicated to producing high-quality pet food. Their commitment to community support during times of crisis is a testament to Purina’s core values and its understanding of the bond between pets and their owners.

    Supporting Communities Beyond Disasters

Purina’s efforts extend beyond immediate disaster relief. The company is deeply invested in various causes that support animal welfare and community well-being. To learn more about the additional initiatives Purina supports, visit www.purina.com/about-purina/supporting-communities.

Walmart Veteran Support Campaign ‘Operation Homefront’ Now Live in Stores

As part of its commitment to supporting veterans, Walmart has launched a campaign called ‘Operation Homefront,’ which runs until November 15. This initiative allows customers to donate to the veteran’s organization Operation Homefront during checkout at Walmart.com or through the Walmart app. In a generous move, Walmart will match contributions 2:1, up to $1 million.

    Helping Military Families in Need

Operation Homefront provides direct financial assistance to military families, helping to ease their burdens and alleviate financial strain. Last year, Walmart’s roundup program raised over $3.2 million for veteran families, demonstrating the retailer’s commitment to giving back to those who have served.

To further celebrate veterans, Walmart will highlight veteran-owned businesses across various platforms, including Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, and TikTok. This three-part series, beginning October 24, will share veteran stories and the vital role music plays in their lives, featuring songs by veteran Zach Bryan.

In conclusion, the collective efforts of Purina, Southwest Body Shop, Bubba’s 33, and Walmart exemplify the spirit of community support and gratitude towards those in need. Whether through disaster relief, quality service, honoring military heroes, or supporting veteran families, these organizations are making a significant impact in their communities.
